Advocate Joginder Poswal
I am an Advocate practicing in cyber law, data protection, corporate compliance, taxation, and estate planning under Indian law. Before enrolling as an advocate, I spent fifteen years in the information technology sector. This experience directly informs my approach to technology-related legal matters.
My practice is exclusively non-litigation: legal advisory, drafting, and consultation.

15 Years in Technology. Now in Legal Practice.
Before becoming an advocate, I spent fifteen years in the information technology sector, focusing on digital infrastructure, systems architecture, and environments where regulatory compliance was integral to operations.
This background shapes my approach to legal issues. When a business experiences a data breach, I begin by understanding the technical details, since obligations under the DPDP Act 2023 depend on what data was processed, how, and by whom. When reviewing contracts, I consider the operational realities behind the agreement, not just the language.
I am enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Punjab & Haryana (Enrolment No. PH/9616/2023) and practise exclusively in non-litigation legal advisory, drafting, and consultation in accordance with the rules governing advocates in India.

Law Informed by Technical Understanding
Most legal disputes involving technology possess a technical dimension that a purely legal analysis may overlook. For example, a data breach constitutes not only a compliance failure but also a systems event. Similarly, a cybercrime complaint requires understanding the technical execution of the fraud, not merely its criminal aspects. A startup’s liability under the DPDP Act is determined not only by legal drafting but also by the architectural design of its product.
With fifteen years of experience in technology-driven environments prior to enrolling as an advocate, I am able to engage with the technical facts of a matter, not just its legal aspects. This background enhances the quality of my advisory work, the accuracy of drafting, and the identification of compliance gaps that a purely legal perspective might overlook.
I do not make claims regarding outcomes or guarantees. Each matter is addressed based on its specific facts and the applicable law.
